Demographic growth, particularly in densely populated urban areas, combined with the age and condition of schools in these areas has forced state and local governments to take action to renovate or replace many existing school structures. Because these projects are often publicly funded they have cultural resource requirements. In New Jersey, archeological and historic architectural surveys for school projects are usually performed in compliance with the instructions and intents set forth by New Jersey Executive Order 215 and the new Jersey Register of Historic Places Act.
Richard Grubb &
Associates
(RGA) is prequalified by the NJSCC and is a registered SBE
vendor that provides consulting services for archaeological and historic
architectural surveys. RGA has completed or is active in over 50 NJSCC projects,
providing Environmental Screening Reports for cultural resources and Historic
and Cultural Resources Reports under New Jersey Executive Order 215. RGA's early
involvement in the Environmental Screening process enables the NJSCC to identify
potential cultural resource issues early in the project, so that potential
conflicts between historic preservation concerns and the needs of NJSCC projects
can be addressed and resolved in a timely manner.
